Lindsay, from Indiana

Say hello to Lindsay, a cool northern gal who will be graduating whenever it thaws out in Northern Indiana (if it ever does).
A 2008 senior from Rensselaer, Indiana, Lindsay sizzled in front of the camera on a bone-chilling winter day recently as we strolled around Rensselaer checking out all the cool buildings. If it wasn't surrounded by miles and miles of corn, Rensselaer would be my new home.
Here are a few of my faves. Enjoy!

Tom and Christy

What an awesome wedding! That's all I can say about the recent wedding of Tom and Christy. They were married in a quaint-but-elegant ceremony at Tom's house, with a nice reception beside his swimming pool and a grand reception at the country club. Here are a few playful shots from the evening. Good luck, you two!

Three friends

These three young ladies attracted some attention while we were doing their session recently in Cotter. We had a blast getting some great photos alongside the White River in and around Big Spring Park. Here are a few of my favorites. Hope you gals enjoy them.

Devin, Mountain Home

Say hi to Devin. An ambassador for Twin Lakes Photography, Devin knows how to pose. She's very comfortable in front of the camera. We hopped from the local college to some of my favorite shooting spots downtown. Here are a few of my favorites from her session. I have a few more seniors that will be posted on the blog soon, as I'm sort of playing catch-up after a mini vacation to South Beach. Who knows? Maybe I'll find time to post a few photos from my trip.

Patti, Mountain Home

We had a blast during Patti's session. In the middle of it all, a big black snake slithered its way toward us as we were shooting downtown. Come to find out, the snake wanted his picture taken, too. The photo with the snake is just for fun. The rest are a preview of some of my favorites from Patti's session. Hope you enjoy them all, Patti!

Sarah, Norfork

Say hi to Sarah. Wow! What a smile she has. I found out that every time I asked for a serious look she would begin to smile. Seriously, (oops) what a great senior session she had, and we were able to get some great photos. These are a few of my favorites. I can't wait for her to see all of them.

Ted and Sherry wedding

Remember Ted and Sherry? Their engagement session set the sprinklers off at a local college. It cooled them down some, but they were sizzling again by the time their wedding rolled around this past Saturday. So, as if on cue, the rain began to fall on their outdoor wedding at Bull Shoals-White River State Park. Fortunately, a nice pavillion provided shelter for the ceremony and Mother Nature took a break so we could get some formals down by the spring. What a nice wedding, despite the rain.

Felica, Yellville-Summit

This is Felicia from Yellville. She has a great personality and was very relaxed in front of the camera. We had a lot of fun strolling around downtown Yellville. Yellville is a photographer's dream. A bunch of cool old buildings and the beautiful courthouse. We're getting pretty busy with seniors. Hopefully I'll have time to keep up with the blog. Ya know. I'm just gonna make time.

Alisha and Chad

My friend reminded me that it had been a while since I updated my blog. I know! All my fun and games have taken a backseat to real work. Yeah, I know: blah! But here's my update. I've got more to post, but here comes that work thing again!
Anyway, this is another young couple ready to spend their lives with each other. Meet Alisha and Chad. They were a lot of fun. Their wedding isn't until next year, but these guys are planners. Good luck A&C!

Ted and Sherry engagement session

Sherry and Ted are getting married! Their wedding is set for Sept. 8 at Bull Shoals-White River State Park. This is a beautiful place to get married. The last wedding I photographed there the fog hovered over the river and provided a gorgeous backdrop for the outdoor ceremony. We're all hoping this heatwave takes a breather by then.
Speaking of heatwaves, it was hot when we did their engagement session at the local college. Lucky for Ted, the sprinkler kicked on and provided some relief. Yep, that's how hot this couple is.

Chris takes Candy

Well, Chris is sweet on Candy. He'd better be. She is his bride. Chris and Candy tied the knot at Forrest City July 28. It was nice and toasty inside the church, but that didn't hinder what turned out to be a spectacular wedding.

James & Kelly's wedding

Here are a couple shots from James & Kelly's wedding on Saturday. What a great couple. They appear to be truly in love. They had such a beautiful wedding. Their colors were red and white. The church's decor played right along. The church also has a great little gazebo out back. Couldn't pass up the gazebo at a wedding!

More weddings

Here is another photo from Bryan and J.J.'s wedding at the beautiful Zanoni Mill. If you're looking for a gorgeous place to get married, you'll find no better place in the Twin Lakes Area.

The 'Model'

We'll just call this guy "the model."
We strolled all over downtown, stopping to shoot photos in alleys, (OK there's only 1 alley) in trees and other peculiar places. Then "the model" makes a beeline for the park. This shot was in downtown. That guy in the window is his evil twin, Bob Dole. Just kidding. We all know Bob Dole isn't evil. You know it. I know it. The American people know it.
Thanks, C, it was fun. You're a natural.

Wedding weekend, take 2

This is happy couple number two from the big wedding weekend. Rain again tried to play the spoiler, but J & J had an awesome indoor ceremony at Bel Arco in Bull Shoals. We did venture outside in the high humidity for some formals and tender moments between the bride and groom. All in all, it was a great weekend for weddings, despite the threat of showers. Congrats!

Wedding weekend, take 1

It was a busy, but fun weekend with two weddings and two awesome couples.
Bryan and J.J. had a wonderful wedding at Zanoni, Mo., with one of Ozark County's beautiful mills as a backdrop. The weather tried to play the spoiler as rain showers moved in, but not before we were able to get some stunning formals in front of the waterfall.

It's Gunner

Say hello to Gunner. He fully enjoyed playing for the camera. He's a natural, what can I say?

He's a very well-behaved yellow lab. Seriously, he minds better than my kids do, and certainly better than my black lab, Lucky. With my lab, I'm "lucky" if he comes when I call him.

So, Gunner, keep it cool dog! And if you ever want to teach an old dog new tricks, stop by and see Lucky.

This is from a recent wedding in Eureka Springs. The hotel where the wedding was supposed to take place actually caught fire. Good thing it was an outside wedding. It did delay the ceremony. But it was one of the most fun weddings I've ever attended. It was a blast photographing it. Thanks B & B!

This is a photo shoot I did recently. We were nearly rained out, but with a little fill flash and some great bokeh, we got through it.

I should introduce myself.

My name is Bruce Roberts, I own Twin Lakes Photography in north-central Arkansas.

Having been a journalist for nearly 20 years, I've done a lot of photography, and have shot countless weddings and other things "kinda on the side."

I decided to step out by faith and go big time. Well, as big time as I can on a journalist's salary. I still have my day job (except, I work nights). My goal is to be an award-winning wedding and portrait photographer. I've won some awards for my photography over the years through various press association competitions, but I want to give my customers portraits that people just can't quit looking at. I hope to use this blog as a measuring post and push my quality with every post.

I look forward to the challenge and my new-found hobby, BLOGOMANIA!

Well, this is a test. Not of the Emergency Broadcasting System, but of my blog.
Is this thing on???
